Bookstore & Inheritance

Our of the last two shopping stops on the way home from the great city of Indianapolis characterize at least one of my loves. Reading. I breathe therefore I read. My earliest memories as I am sure many of yours are too, are of having a book in my hand, of being at our local library everyday of the summer (intermixed with the local pool of course.)

My favorite genre definitely leans to science fiction and fantasy. I remember books about little fairy-like dragons as a child. I have been hooked ever since then. Of course I read many many science fiction books between then and my next favorite book, Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, but I don't recall them as distinctly as I do Card's novel. I was in my early twenties when I picked this book for no certain reason other than it had a sci-fi label on it at the library. Wait I do recall that I had picked up a different book of his, Enchantment and it intrigued me so much that I had to read more of his writing. With Ender's Game I don't even have to close my eyes to recollect how I felt at the ending of that book. Amazed, awed, gloriously bewildered at the incredible ability of an author to take me on such a stupendous journey. Bravo Card, Bravo. Needless to say I have reread the book twice since then and as I write this want to read it again. Forever a solid science fiction fan for sure.

I am literally a kid in a candy shop at a book store.Used book stores embody my passion. Books-A-Million and Barnes and Noble stand out as two of my favorites as well. Therefore we made a stop at Books-A-Million on our trek back home, seeking out one particular book, Inheritance by Poalini. His first novel, Eragon, I breezed right through. The second, Eldest, challenged my patience, but as you know more often than not when you start a series, you must finish the series. I had Brinsingr on my shelf for quite some time and finally picked it up at the beginning of the year. I started out reading it at home right before bed. Then I began taking it with me to work to read on breaks and at lunch. And then I began bringing it back in the house in the evenings to finish it up. I couldn't stop myself, it enriched me to read it, it took me to another world, it made me care. Fast forward, I finish the book and the local used bookstore didn't have it in stock, thus you find me at Books-A-Million.

Ah ha, you say, is that all that you bought? No way, one of the joys of Books-A-Million is their sale area. Even though at one point I had six books in my arms, I ended up with three books.
