No big name actors in this one which should tell you that I did not pick it. Netflix and unknown actors are usually the makings of a very bad movie. My husband can't tell a bad movie because he doesn't really know any actors names. One of my favorite games use to be to name two actors and through listing movies to eventually connect the two. I am pretty good with names. Nonetheless we watch.
It wasn't so bad as all that, only because it was so forgettable. The premise is that a good guy, Victor, becomes a bad guy, Alphonse, to infiltrate the Alphonse's "gang" to exact revenge and death on them for killing his wife and daughter. Sideline he falls in love with his neighbor lady. Once again a movie filmed in the dark. The bad guys must not have being doing to well financially because they obviously couldn't afford the light bill.
The movie's pluses were that there was no foul language which I though weird for bad guys. No nudity. And one walked in on sex scene but nothing showed. Three major pluses in my book. But...
Victor was drab. The character unmemorable because he had no depth. His pain over the loss of his family didn't feel real. He wasn't in enough pain to make him believable, no rawness, no visiting of the graves, no tears. Victor's friend. Darcy, was mundane as well. I think that he was suppose to feel like a little puppy yapping at Victor's heels. He was suppose to be madly in love with his wife and his child and was desperately trying to get back in her good graces for some mistake that we the viewers weren't privy to. Assuming these things about characters makes it hard to enjoy a movie because as a viewer you're just never really sure what the writer wants you to know. Alphonse, the bad guy, was appropriately bad. But again he just felt like any other bad guy. His evil in killing Victor's family didn't come through. He lacked righteousness, villainy, meanness.
Would I watch it again, no, because it was just plain boring. The extra love story could have been lost, they didn't add to the story, it was just a side story. It's hard to write a review for movies like this. I wouldn't recommend it. It was tired and boring with no memorable acting. If I had not written this review right after watching it, I would have forgotten it.
