Author - Charlaine Harris

The WORST author EVER! Yep, I said it. I am one of the true believers that Sookie should have ended up with Eric. And because she didn't Charlaine Harris is an idiot for her betrayal of millions of fans. I would rather burn all of her books as to ever read another.

Why all of the drama? ... I had stayed away from this series for the longest time being a Patricia Briggs and Laura K. Hamilton to name a few. Last year though, I was in the local used book store and the first five of The Southern Vampire Mysteries were there when none of my other favorites were. So I picked them up, and then I proceeded to inhale them. Those of you who are true readers know what I mean, a book is so so so very good that you breathe and it's gone. Well, I raced back to the book store and found four more. Of course I consumed those as well. The last few the store didn't have but our local library had them on the shelf. I checked them all out, I read. And I read. And in the last book I started to strongly suspect that all wasn't going as I (the reader) was led to believe that it would. I kept reading, really not believing that Harris would end it so terribly. And it did. It ended. It ended wrong. I literally turned the book over, basically shook it, hoping not believing that it was really done.

As another reader / critique says "Emma says: I would generally believe an author should go with what they’d always planned, but in this case – no. This final book has been over a decade in the making. Loyal fans want characters to behave in a rational way that’s true to themselves, and a lot of the anger I’m seeing seems to be about that. People/Sookie not acting like herself and making choices that make very little sense at this late stage in the series. Also, there seems to be way too much attention paid to household chores and the like that are basically just filler, rather than focusing on a decent plot. Like you say, if an author doesn’t deliver what her fans want, she should be prepared to take the heat."

I went to the Internet immediately, searching for answers. I had just consumed a thirteen book series and was left devastated. I soon found out millions of other readers were too. So it was real. An author had really abandoned all reason and left her adoring fans bereft. I wrote a scathing critique on Amazon's website and that's all I could do. I took the entire series that I had purchased and sold them off, first I never sell my books so that was huge, second I should have burned them. My hope is that her writing career dries up and shrivels away.

I would like to take this opportunity to warn against anyone considering reading this series. It will leave you so sadly disappointed, I wished someone had warned me.
