Indy, Eating, & Super Heroes

The first item on our downtown Indianapolis agenda was to find food. Since we had parked next to Hard Rock Cafe and neither boy could remember being there, I thought it a good choice. My son
whined a bit because on the way to downtown I had suggested Mexican and he had his mind set on it. But politeness won out with him and he agreed to Hard Rock. Ahh, but now we have to get in. I step up to the hostess and ask about wait time. She responded "One hour, but it has usually been less." I
said no thanks" and she seemed surprised. Small town life versus big city life smacking me in the face. Wait time for a meal four us is 15 minutes, and that has about five minutes of toe-tapping involved. For her though, about an hour seemed good, thus her surprise. Nonetheless, we walked back out of the Hard Rock and glanced around for some other choices. We see Steak N Shake which is common here too and we see Noodles & Company. Now here's something we have never tried. Score! After all isn't the rule that when you're on vacation you must try new restaurants? Well our's is.

Entering we see a huge menu on the wall where you are to wait in line. I tried to make heads or tails of it, and honestly just got the jest of it. Surprisingly my son spotted the Tomato Basil Soup and requested that we get some of it. Maybe he'll be a vegetable eater one day. Approaching the counter we were in a bit of trepidation because we didn't want to sound like dummies, luckily there was a wonderful lady behind the cash register to guide us through ordering. My son chose the Wisconsin Macaroni and Cheese with... tomato basil soup. His best friend ordered spaghetti and meatballs. While my husband got Beef Stroganoff and I the daring one of the group got the Japanese noodles with steak and a side of tomato basil soup. Mine was fabulous, best friend's was good, husband's was yummy, and son's boring, he even dumped most of his soup on it to jazz up the flavor. We both agreed the soup was very good.

The fun part about eating in this restaurant though was the ability to watch people pass by on the street. The boys had picked seating at a bar along the front of the place that overlooked the street. Sauntering in front of us was the League of Super Heroes, Disney princesses, and a few scary monsters to round out the parade. Batman followed Little Red Riding Hood and a cardboard knight held sway with fish net stockings. All in all a very fun eating experience.
